Season 26 review / Bilan de la saison écoulée

Written by Matrix team at 12:19 17/12-2013

More results than ever but not that much victories. A first half brillant and a second half more dissappointing.
Overall we can't complain with the season we just had : 24 results (team record), 2 new Jerseys (Cymru and Essex), 6 wins (which remains honorable), and 5th tops 9 in the Wc and WC ITT.
The only regret we will have is to score four 2nd and two 3rd places after Essex Tour but no victory at all.
  Bitter-sweet taste.
However, in compensation, Matrix Team has now more than 200 results ! (221 so far, 78 victories)

The biggest highlight of the season was of course Sir Sandro's Full Monty : an unprecedent performance we will be proud of forever.

Concerning young riders, we managed to end Kang's training, which makes us a team with 6 great time trialers, something we wanted to do when we started the game. Just did not know it would take so long.
And to replace Nicholas Ryle, who's getting old, but still capable of great races as he proved in WC with a 5th place, we bought 3 riders who could become Tour riders :

I)Rik Roetering, already half trained and very promising :
    CL: Very good
    DH: Small
    HL: Very good
    SP: Average
    FR: Small
    CB: Average
    TT: Small
    TQ: Good

II)Ordin Mere, almost most impressive :
    CL: Very good
    DH: Average
    HL: Average
    SP: None
    FR: Very good
    CB: Small
    TT: None
    TQ: Small

III) And Liam Alley, maybe a potential a little lower, but who knows what he will become :
    CL: Very good
    DH: Small
    HL: Average
    SP: Small
    FR: None
    CB: Small
    TT: Average
    TQ: Average

The aim will be to train them as fast as possible to try to target a YC in either Vuelta or Germany Tour. Consequently, at least one has to be ready and strong enough in about 90 days. It will be though but it will be our only investment this season.

As usual now, here are the goals we targeted for season 26 :
-At least podiums in both Cymru and Essex Tours with Montelbano in TF : DONE with 2 victories !
-End Kang training, and train Liam Alley as much as possible : DONE at the average of 51 !
-Maybe hire another possible Tour captain : DONE with 3 great talents
-Top 10 at the end of the season would be appreciated : DONE with a 6th place and 3790 points.

And goals for season 27 :
  - At least podiums in both Cymru and Essex Tours with Montelbano NOT in TF this time.
  - Max at least Roetering and maybe Mere before the end of the season.
  - Try to win more races, and as always a preference for TT races.
  - Ranking is not an aim at the time, but to maintain as high as we can would be good.

  ------------------------------------------------------------------

I)Rik Roetering, déjà en partie entrainé :
    CL: Very good
    DH: Small
    HL: Very good
    SP: Average
    FR: Small
    CB: Average
    TT: Small
    TQ: Good

II)Ordin Mere, encore plus impressionnant :
    CL: Very good
    DH: Average
    HL: Average
    SP: None
    FR: Very good
    CB: Small
    TT: None
    TQ: Small

    CL: Very good
    DH: Small
    HL: Average
    SP: Small
    FR: None
    CB: Small
    TT: Average
    TQ: Average
